We create cutting-edge, original digital content combined with tight strategy to tell your story. Everything we write, shoot or strategise is multi-platform and dynamic, created to entice consumers to engage with your brand.
Who We Are
Sophie McComas-Williams, Director
A creative thinker and fast mover, Sophie McComas-Williams is a celebrated Australian writer and editor with a near-decade's experience in food and travel media. Prior to co-founding Buffet and executing all things social media, creative strategy and editorial, Sophie was the first editor of Broadsheet Sydney, leading it to become one of the most influential digital food publications in the country. As digital editor of Australian Gourmet Traveller, she worked on creating premium branded content for partners such as American Express, Destination Canada and Lindt. Way back when, she published a personal food and travel blog that was awarded Australia’s best. It’s gone now though, so don’t try to find it.
Nikki To, Director
Nikki To is a boundary-pushing photographer and visual creator known for her work with Australia’s most respected restaurants including Quay, Icebergs Dining Room & Bar, The Apollo and Automata. Her distinct, polished photographic style informs her creative direction as co-founder of Buffet, and has propelled her to work with brands such as Jamie Oliver and Google Food. She’s shot entire books, too, including a wild pop-up cake book with baking extraordinaire Katherine Sabbath and a lush cookbook for Pinetrees Lodge on Lord Howe Island. She’s known in some circles to be the inventor of the food-focused GIF, however she prefers not to comment on this matter.
Molly Urquhart, Content and Copy Editor
If you can tell someone's favourite food by how much of it they have in their fridge, Molly's is CLEARLY zucchini. Our copy expert can spot a wrongly placed apostrophe a mile off, has helped craft the tone of voice for some of Australia's best food brands, and ensures that not only our social accounts look, sound and feel unique, but get people eating, ordering, and coming back for more.
Emilie Gaïda, Account Manager
Our sunny Account Manager hails from the land of cheese, and so it’s no surprise that it’s her favourite food (chèvre, s’il vous plaît). Em keeps everything running smoothly at Buffet, from giant projects (a web series for QT Hotels) to bite-sized ones (all the photoshoots we execute every day!). You’ll catch her in your inbox, expertly managing our next project, or a yoga class.
Gemma Plunkett, Content Editor
Not only does Gem have content planning, audience growth and community management under her thumb, but she’s also a ceramicist, talented illustrator, gardener AND is currently working on her first batch of sour beer.
Rose Howard, Content Editor and Development
Rose loves a noodle. She also comes from an editorial background, once helmed a digital beauty publication and has written for some of Australia's biggest food and booze brands. Copywriting, strategy, weird zeitgeist-y idea? She's your noodle.
Julia Bowdler, Graphic Designer
Our graphic design muscle is a hands-on kinda woman - gardening, screen printing, etc. She makes brands pop on social, doughnuts wiggle through video and animation, and can transform the words "paste-up" into the word "art".
Megan Gordon, Content, Copy & Strategy Manager
When she's not tackling brand strategy, crafting copy that shines and bouncing idea after idea of our four walls, Meg's leading our team of editors to new heights, singing, or making her own damn cheese. Ahoy!
Bruno Stefani, Photography Assistant
The only thing more outstanding than Bruno’s party shirt collection is his calm and creative presence on set at all our shoots, not to mention his skills with data wrangling and photo editing.
Issy Plasto, Production Assistant
Issy makes things happen in the Buffice - from the fiddly aspects of shoots, to assisting our external team of shooters, dreamers and makers. Chief of Getting It Done, we like to say.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the past, present and emerging traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation.
