In my many years of using a MacBook I’ve always wondered if there was a more festive way to organise my files and folders. Sure, I could let Apple arrange them for me, but where’s the fun food in that?

Enter the most delicious of all Mac hacks! Fancy The Apollo’s taramasalata as your document folder, or a stack of bills ricotta hotcakes as your shortcut to your pictures? Of course you do! Follow these steps and your desktop will be a feast in no time:

First, crop your selects. To learn how to perfectly crop and edit your images, head to our very detailed explainer. (We recommend choosing images that are either square or circular.)

While you’ve got your image open in Preview:
> select edit
> copy image
> select your desktop folder
> right click and select get info
> click on the blue folder and paste. Voila, you’re done!

This step-by-step is not exclusive to your desktop alone, you can also personalize your files, applications (excluding Apple’s Calendar app) and even your dock. If you need some inspiration, our Pinterest is brimming with tasty ideas.
