Tegan Hendel for P Franco
Tegan Hendel's poster work for London bar P Franco announces winemaker takeovers, guest chefs and special events but it also announces PUT ME ON YOUR WALL! Hendel's posters have garnered a solid cult following over the years, and she offers a selection of her contemporary colour-block pieces on her website, all of which will look right at home on the wall of someone who knows what "Susucaru" is.
Worktones smiley cap
Smile, legend! Worktones are known for cutting cloth for the hospo industry, but these happy caps are accessible to everyone. Made from 100% cotton and complete with an adjustable back strap, it's a one-size-fits-all-dads kind of situation.
Alex and Trahanas ceramics
Alex and Trahanas plates show all sorts of emotions. Puzzlement, wonderment, amusement, bewilderment and all the "ments" in between. Sourced from Puglia, they're perfect for pasta dressed with tomato and crab, slices of melon and prosciutto, big green olives and aperitivo aplenty, eaten in the sunshine.
Gourmand Dog Eat Dog Calendar
A whippet named Radish, a Boston terrier named Basil, a big golden lab named Brie. The Gourmand's annual Dog Eat Dog 2019 calendar offers a dog named after food each month, in support of London-based animal welfare charity, Mayhew. Woof!
Canelés by The Flour
Skip the mince pies and give the gift of Bordeaux's signature rum-soaked pastry this Christmas, the elegant canelé. Scented with vanilla and with a crisp caramelised crust disguising a custardy centre, Melbourne bakery The Flour uses only premium Australian ingredients before wrapping them up in beautiful, simple packaging, ideal for gifting (they'll post them to you, too!). Flavour sets include French earl-grey and blueberry, pistachio and apricot, and oat and cinnamon - but you really can't go wrong with classic rum-vanilla. Sit back and watch jaws drop.
Pord brings together two of life's mostly fancy things – art and wine – and melds them with the technology of something that's definitely not - the goon box. These eight-inch mini barrels are filled with three litres of either shiraz, pinot grigio or rosé (courtesy of Ngambie's Mitchelton Wines), and are wrapped in the graphic, colourful work of one of three female artists: Evi O, Hannah Nowlan and Filippa Edghill. Not only are you saving on packaging waste thanks to Pord, but you can relax into the thought that your drop will stay fresh for four to six weeks after the first glass and the barrel can live on as a reusable piece for the home after the last.
Mociun Pizza Slice Charm
New York based designer Mociun's Fine Foods collection celebrates the city's iconic snacks by immortalising them into shiny jewels which are an obvious necessity for those dear readers with CASH TO SPLASH. This solid 14 carat yellow gold pizza slice is crusted in not only 13 glittering diamonds in place of mozzarella, but with pepperoni slices made from rose cut carnelian. Cue the credit card.
Polka Pants in Signature Polka Dot
Baggy chef pants with no shape do us no favours, ladies. Polka Pants are tailored, durable and flattering in a range of cool prints that work both in kitchens and out of them. Ideal for the gal-pal behind the pass.
Places We Swim
Caroline Clements and Dillon Seitchik-Reardon upped stumps for a year to traverse our wide brown land in search of a little blue. Places We Swim is the resulting chronicle of their journey to find Australia's best swimming holes, beaches, ocean pools, springs and gorges. They've found everything from the best spots for nudie swims to the waterfalls worth hiking for and the city lap pools with the best kiosks. Pop this in the stocking of your best road-tripping mate.
Food and Drink Quiz by Ridley's Games Rooms
We've personally road-tested this quiz, and its trivia spans the absolutely esoteric to the downright obvious, just the right spread for an all-in Christmas Day round. Perfect for the smug gourmand who believes there's nothing more to learn in the world of food.
